Storage

If the battery is to be stored for an extended period, observe the following requirements:

  • Store in a dry, cool, well-ventilated location. Keep away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Storage temperature: 0°C to 35°C.
  • Typically, the maximum storage period at room temperature is six months. If storing longer, check the battery voltage: if it is above 51.2 V you may continue storing, but check the voltage at least once a month until it drops below 51.2 V.
  • Charge the battery to ≥50% SOC before placing it into storage, and maintain 40–60% SOC during storage.
  • Check the battery voltage every 6 months during storage. If the voltage has dropped below 51.2 V, recharge it immediately.
  • Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries self-discharge slowly during storage. Regular voltage checks are important to prevent deep discharge.
  • Do not expose stored batteries to extreme heat or cold, or attempt to dismantle them.

Once the voltage is lower than 51.2 V, charge the battery according to the following strategy:

  1. Discharge the battery to the cut-off voltage using a 0.2C (≈63 A) current.
  2. Charge the battery with a 0.2C (≈63 A) current for approximately 3 hours.
  3. Maintain the State of Charge (SOC) of the battery at 40–60% during storage.
Warning

If the battery voltage has dropped below 51.2 V during storage, do not fast-charge until it is confirmed safe by Sunsynk service. In general, if the voltage is lower than 51.2 V, it must be recharged. Do not allow the battery to remain deeply discharged.

Notice

The battery must be recharged within 48 hours after being fully discharged. If stored for a long time after full discharge, recharge within 48 hours of recommissioning.
